I am passionate about travel and tourism. I believe that our lifestyle has truly modified the way we travel and visit places, making lines blurrier between travelling, visiting, being a local and a being a tourist. I want to keep exploring these great travel opportunities and report back on them to a wider audience, beyond the more 'classic', academic research I usually conduct. This is why I have received media training and have been active in this sector. Here's what I have been up to.
"Napoléon 1821-2021": I released this video in May 2021 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Napoléon's death on the isle of St Helena. This video was produced with the French consulate and institute in Edinburgh, my employer from 2019 to 2021. Video in French with English and French subtitles (adjust in settings).

Mighty Trains (Discovery Channel): I was interviewed in Discovery Canada's Mighty Trains (S3E03) episode about the Bernina Express train in Switzerland. A fantastic journey through one of Switzerland's most iconic train journeys. Short clip on the right.

Grand Train Tour of Switzerland: in June 2018 I embarked on the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland from Zürich to Zermatt, to show that trains are the most effective, efficient, reliable way to travel, as long as local authorities are here to run a dense network and to promote it well. This journey was made possible by Swiss Travel System and Zermatt Matterhorn. An article (read here) and a video came out of this fantastic trip.

Digital Mapping: Researchers in the Humanities can benefit hugely from digital tools. Mapping is one of them. Along with Dr Konrad Lawson I developed a website to teach them how to make basic digital maps.
